Unspoken Message Received...

One day after work, I went out to gather the eggs. I had to laugh at the wordless message they left for me.

When our young hens begin to lay, we place a plasic egg in their nest box, in hopes to encourage them to lay 'in' a nest box, rather than in a dark corner on the ground.

Enjoy the day!

Blessings to all!

Hello Mrs. T!

Chickens can be funny. It is amazing if you watch them enough, you soon learn their thoughts. They can be quite bossy too. ~grin~

Have a blessed day!

Hello and welcome nocton4!

I was amazed to see this line up, with the plastic egg, knocked almost out of the nest box. ~grin~

Thank you for your thoughts!

Blessings,

: ) how funny is that?? So - the green egg in the back is the plastic one?

I am interested in your barley experience. Looks great. Did you sue it in the kitchen?

Greetings Weekend Farmer!

Yes, that is the plastic egg in the back of the nest box.

Last year was our first barley growing experience. It grew well, was simple to sow, and the wild birds loved it. ~grin~

We chose not to harvest it, as we lacked the time last year. However, we did use the stalks as a mulch during the winter.

Thank you for stopping by and reading and commenting.

Have a blessed day!

Hi Kris, sorry I have not been able to stop in more often, it has been a busy busy time here. Looks like they wanted you to know what they thought :)
